Switching from a natural law to an artificial lawn makes a lot of sense for people all over the country, but especially in drought-prone Southern California. At All Season Turf we can help you through the entire process, from start to finish. We can also help you keep your artificial lawn clean and beautiful. In fact, it is very easy to do so. Follow these tips and be sure to call us at (866) 365-8873 if you have questions or concerns.
Get Rid of Large Pieces of Debris on a Daily Basis
This is true of any type of lawn, whether natural grass or artificial – if you see large pieces of debris you should remove them right away. This would be something like large sticks or branches, or something that has blown onto the lawn. It is especially important to walk the lawn and remove debris after a large storm or even a windy day.
Use a Leaf Blower or Shock Vac to Get Rid of Smaller Debris
Just as you would use a leaf blower on natural lawn, you can use it on your artificial lawn as well. You can also use your shop vac to get rid of debris. Just be sure to use a low setting so that you do not affect the infill that is there to support your blades of grass. Of course, if you have certain types of infill, such as sand or anything else lighter than pea gravel, then you should spot check your vac or blower to ensure they do not move your infill.
You Can Use a Lawn Rake, Brush, or Broom
If you have a larger lawn, then you may want to use a rake to get rid of small debris such as leaves. Make sure you use a rake with plastic prongs – not the potentially-damaging metal ones. These prongs can also help to fluff the blades of your artificial grass that may have settled int the turf. Raking it like this can also help permeate your infill, which keeps it fresh and smelling great. Brushes and brooms can be used in the same way.
Rinse Your Artificial Lawn Monthly
Though you may need to do it more frequently if your lawn is prone to get dirtier, we recommend that you rinse it down with a hose at least once per month. This gets of dust and can get rid of any pet residue that you may have as well. If you have a particular area of your lawn that your pet uses then you may want to rinse it weekly or more often.
